Half Marathon Course

A New Half Marathon Course for 2017!

The AthHalf half marathon course will be all new on Sunday, October 22nd! Due to Sanford Stadium construction impacting the previous course, we needed to make some changes for this year, but we’re so excited with our new course design! Runners will enjoy a gorgeous autumn-time run through downtown Athens, the UGA campus (Go Dawgs!), past Five Points, past the “Pumpkin Patch Church” and the gorgeous Greek houses, and of course through the historic Cobbham and Boulevard neighborhoods. And in AthHalf tradition, we’ll have live music throughout the course to keep you energized and having fun!

Time Limits

The half marathon course has a four-hour time limit. All runners must be able to complete the course within four hours.

The 5K has a one-hour time limit. All runners must be able to complete the course within one hour.

Runner Support

Runners will be well supported on the course with hydration stations, cheering fans, live music (half marathon only), and lots of fun.

Weather

The AthHalf Half Marathon and 5K are scheduled during prime fall weather! In October, average monthly temperatures range between 50°F and 76°F, while rainfall totals average around just 3.2 inches for the month

Course Measurement

The AthHalf 2017 course has been officially measured, but it is not USATF certified. Due to construction, the regular AthHalf course is not an option for 2017, but we have created a new course for this year that includes all the gorgeous Athens neighborhoods and landmarks. Because the 2017 course will likely only be used for one year, we have decided not to invest the considerable amount of time and money required to have a course USATF certified. We fully expect that we will return to the regular USATF-certified course in 2018.
